Fall 2007 Grants

The Daily Planet/Moody Middle School                                                     

To support the homelessness and hunger awareness program, in which students at Moody Middle School will engage in year-long activities to learn about and create awareness around the issue of homelessness.  Activities will include visits to The Daily Planet and Freedom House, public awareness campaigns, holding clothing, blanket and toiletry drives and fundraisers.

Easter Seals Virginia

To support Project Success, a program for youth with and without disabilities in which participants identify, plan and implement service projects in the community.  Participants conduct projects on a monthly basis.

GLSEN Richmond                                                                            

To support the GSA Summit program, which teaches students how to form Gay Straight Alliances, run meetings and attract members; the year-round school support program, which provides on going support to GSAs including presentations for faculty, workshops for members and small grants for activities; and Project Inclusion, a partnership between GLSEN, ROSMY and the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities designed to foster school safety.

HARPS Foundation                                     

To support an outreach initiative that partners harp students as mentors to youth with disabilities through the Harp Therapy Outreach Program and youth from disadvantaged circumstances through the Boys & Girls Club Ensemble.

ROSMY                                                                            

To support Project Inclusion, a partnership between GLSEN, ROSMY and the Virginia Center for Inclusive Communities designed to foster school safety.

St. Paul’s Baptist Church                                    

To support tutoring and mentoring services for 60 elementary age students.  The program will be conducted by St. Paul’s youth, ages 14-18, with oversight from adult staff.
